Cody Rhodes is now a top merchandise seller in the WWE, joining the likes of Roman Reigns and John Cena in the upper echelons of the WWE main event.

The American Nightmare left AEW in controversial circumstances to join the WWE in 2022. He made a huge re-debut at WrestleMania 38, beating Seth Rollins in a surprise match.

Since then, he has been consistently one of the most popular men on the roster. WWE pushed him to the main event straight away, beating Seth Rollins in three consecutive pay per view matches.

He suffered an injury at Hell in a Cell, before a five star match inside the cell, before returning to the 2023 Royal Rumble match to win the titular match, booking his main event match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.

Cody Rhodes entered at number 30 to win the 2023 Royal Rumble match – last eliminating GUNTHER.

If you were worried about his status as a main event star – fear not. Cody Rhodes has been reported to be a “top tier” merchandise seller, akin to other top stars in the company.

This was reported in the Wrestling Observer, as Dave Meltzer wrote that the son of Dusty Rhodes was “hitting the levels of a top tier main eventer”, in regards to the sale of t-shirts and other merchandise in the WWE.

“Rhodes now hitting the levels of top tier main eventers as far as merchandise sales go”

Dave Meltzer, Wrestling Observer

The second night of WrestleMania 39 will be main evented by Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns. The match will be for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, with Reigns has held for nearly 1000 days.
