Edge On Turning Down The Undertaker’s Streak: “That Makes Zero Sense To Me”

WWE Hall of Famer Edge has revealed that he turned down the chance to end The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak.

The Deadman managed 21 wins in a row at WrestleMania, until he was thwarted by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30.

In that run, he beat stars like Triple H, Kane, Randy Orton and Shawn Michaels, as well as a host of other Hall of Famers.

Another one of these stars to fall to The Undertaker was Edge, who walked into WrestleMania 24 as the World Heavyweight Champion.

The Rated-R Superstar faced The Undertaker in the main event of WrestleMania 24. The match was one of the best on the whole show, and went on last over huge matches like Triple H vs John Cena vs Randy Orton, and Ric Flair’s final WWE match against Shawn Michaels.

The Undertaker beat Edge at WrestleMania 24, extending his streak to 16 wins and 0 losses.

However, Vince McMahon wanted Edge vs The Undertaker to be the end of the streak, much to the dismay of the Rated-R Superstar himself.

Edge vs The Undertaker

Edge has spoken about his match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 24, and revealed why he turned down the chance to be the man to end The Streak.

The WWE Hall of Famer was recently interviewed on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, and spoke about a wide variety of topics, including The Undertaker.

Talking about the Edge vs Undertaker match at WrestleMania 24, the Canadian former WWE Champion said;

“I think his streak at that point was like 15-0. It was kind of thrown by me like, ‘What do you think?’ I was like, ‘Absolutely not. Why would we do that? That makes zero sense to me. I’m already a made man. I’m in the main event of WrestleMania.

What’s it going to do for me? Sure, it would do something I guess, but like, let’s save that. Let’s save that for somebody who can really use that boost.’ To me, as the years started going and going, I was like, ‘Reigns is that guy. Let’s save it for that’, but it wasn’t my call, obviously.

But when it was brought to my attention or at least thrown by me as an option, I just thought no because it was just as important as the world championships at WrestleMania, so why take away one of our marquee attractions.

Again, I was already made. If I’m in the main event at WrestleMania, I don’t need the streak. I don’t need to break that.”

Edge is rumoured to be leaving WWE at the end of his contract, and moving to AEW to team with his long-time friend Christian Cage for one final run.
