WWE have confirmed that John Cena vs Austin Theory will be the first match on Night One of Wrestlemania 39.
The match came to be after Cena accepted Theory’s challenge, after weeks of goading from the United States Champion.
Many had theorised that Austin Theory wouod wrestle John Cena in the main event of Wrestlemania 39: Night One. However, this will not be the case.
On tonight’s episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown, lead commentator Michael Cole revealed where on the running order Austin Theory vs John Cena would take place.
Michael Cole revealed commentary that John Cena vs Austin Theory, for the United States Championship, will kick off night one of Wrestlemania 39.
It has often been said that if you’re not in the main event of the show, you want to be on first. This is when the crowd is the hottest, ripe with anticipation for the upcoming show.
This will be John Cena’s first real match at Wrestlemania since he lost to The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 34. He appeared with Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania 36,. but it was more of a skit than an actual match.
John Cena will wrestle Austin Theory in the opening match of Wrestlemania 39, on the first might of the event.
