MJF has had three key tag team partners in AEW

MJF is one of AEW’s top stars, despite not even reaching his 30s yet.

Despite this, MJF has been involved in multiple tag teams, coming close to winning the AEW Tag Team Championships on many occasions.

The AEW Champion has had three full-time tag team partners in AEW, beginning in the very first year of AEW’s existence: 2019.

Despite this, he has always been a singles star and one of the top heels in the company.

This list will not include most of the members of The Pinnacle. MJF never teamed with Shawn Spears or FTR regularly, and they were not full-time tag team partners of him.

However, his first partner in AEW was a member of The Pinnacle – former TNT Champion Wardlow.

Wardlow

Wardlow was brought in to AEW as the bodyguard of MJF, in the first year of the company’s existence.

He was announced as a new signing to AEW during All Out 2019, being revealed in a video package airing during the event.

Wardlow debuted in AEW on the November 13, 2019 episode of AEW Dynamite, and was revealed as being aligned with MJF.

He attacked Cody Rhodes on his debut, and actually wrestled him inside a steel cage during his first AEW match.

Soon after, Wardlow began teaming with MJF, as well as doing his bodyguard duties.

Their most notable tag team feud was against Jurassic Express, which were some early highlights of the AEW tag team division.

The pair eventually split, after Wardlow cost MJF his match against CM Punk at Revolution 2022.

Chris Jericho

As part of a long, drawn-out story involving MJF joining the Inner Circle, MJF teamed with Chris Jericho numerous times.

The pair attempted to win the AEW Tag Team Championship at AEW Revolution 2021, in a match against The Young Bucks.

They earned this by beating two other “Inner Circle” tag teams, cementing themselves as the top team in the group.

Sadly, MJF eventually turned on his partner, abandoning Chris Jericho and forming “The Pinnacle”.

This ended his tag team with Chris Jericho, and saw MJF come the closest to winning the AEW Tag Team Championships in his career so far.

The pair also had one of the best segments in AEW history, the Tony Award-winning “La Dinner Debonair“, which involved a funny skit and incredible song and dance number.

Adam Cole

MJF’s latest tag team partner is Adam Cole, and it’s been his best partner yet.

The pair were thrown together in a tag team for the AEW Blind Eliminator tag team tournament, where mix and match pairs saw themselves paired up for a series of tag matches.

This came after MJF wrestled Adam Cole in an Eliminator match, which ended in a time-limit draw.

MJF soon tried to bond with Adam Cole. It was initially rejected, but Cole soon saw the true intentions of the AEW Champion, and the pair became firm friends.

Funny backstage skits of the pair hanging out, and playing the AEW Fight Forever video game, drew huge laughs from the fans, turning MJF face for the first time this year,

The duo went all the way in the AEW tag team tournament, beating Daniel Garcia and Sammy Guevara in the final to earn a title shot on AEW Collision.

While they lost to FTR in a fantastic AEW Tag Team Championship match, friendship prevailed. MJF looked like he was going to hit Cole with his AEW Championship, but threw it away as the pair embraced in the ring.

They continued to team together after that, winning the ROH World Tag Team Championships at AEW All In 2023.
