Rey Mysterio vs Dominik Mysterio is set to take place for the firsr time in WWE history at Wrestlemania 39,. according to reports from Dave Meltzer.

The father-son duo have never faced off in the ring before, although they did hold the WWE Tag Team Championships together, being the first father and son tag team champions in WWE history.

Dominik turned on Rey Mysterio at Clash at the Castle in 2022, betraying his dad as he joined up with Finn Balor, Rhea Ripley and Damien Priest in the faction called Judgement Day.

After the betrayal, Rey Mysterio opted to move to Smackdown to avoid facing off with his son. However, he may soon have no choice as the pair are set to go one on one in match at Wrestlemania.

Writing in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote that the plan for Wrestlemania 39 is to pit father against son with Rey Mysterio vs Dominik.

Rey Mysterio vs. Dominik Mysterio. This hasn’t been announced but has been the plan for months to hold off their first singles match to this show”

The last time a father wrestled his son at Wrestlemania was in 2001. At Wrestlemania X7, Vince Mcmahon wrestled Shane McMahon in a match that also involved Stephanie and Linda McMahon. It was refereed by Mick Foley and was one of the best matches of the pay per view
