Thunder Rosa’s Injury Return Delayed – “I don’t think I’m going to be cleared anytime soon”

Thunder Rosa‘s return from injury looks to have been delayed, with some bad news coming out of her recovery.

The Mexican star broke out of AEW, after joining from the NWA in 2020. She went on a tear, challenging for the women’s championship and having five star matches with stars like Britt Baker.

Her Unsanctioned Match against Britt Baker in 2021 was one of the best matches of the year, and set a new standard for women’s wrestling in the United States.

She beat Baker a year later for the AEW Women’s Championship, pinning her in a steel cage match to win her first title in AEW.

However, Thunder Rosa suffered an injury not long into her title reign, stopping her from defending her belt.

Despite not giving up the championship, and an interim title being awarded to Toni Storm, she eventually tearfully announced her decision to vacate the title, due to a worsening injury.

Due to her injury, Thunder Rosa has been out of action since August 2022. Three months later, she officially vacated the built, allowing Toni Storm to be announced as the official AEW Women’s Champion.

Fans have been hoping to see Thunder Rosa back in an AEW ring soon, but a recent update from the star has left them disappointed with her recovery.

In a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Thunder Rosa addressed her injury, speaking about being cleared for an AEW return.

Sadly, her outlook was not good, and she does not think she will be cleared in the near future.

“That’s the question everyone asks me during the signings. Unfortunately, I wasn’t cleared and I don’t think I’m going to be cleared anytime soon. I need another MRI.”

It is currently unknown when Thunder Rosa will be back in AEW following her injury. However, she continues to provide Spanish-language commentary for AEW Dynamite.
