Adam Page vs Jon Moxley Booked In First Time Ever Match For AEW Championship

Who do you think will win the AEW Championship match of Adam Page vs Jon Moxley?

After his victory in the Battle Royale on AEW Rampage: Grand Slam, Adam Page will challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW Championship. In this first-time-ever match, the former AEW Champion will take on Moxley, currently in his third reign with the belt, in his bid to regain the championship he lost at AEW Double or Nothing 2022

Adam Page vs Jon Moxley is scheduled to take place on the October 18th, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite, which will be a special “Tuesday Night Dynamite” edition of the show.

Adam Page vs Jon Moxley

“Hangman” Adam Page earned his shot at Moxley by winning the Golden Ticket Battle Royale on AEW Rampge: Grand Slam. The match featured some huge stars like Brian Cage, Dalton Castle and Rush. However, it was Page who would outlast all other men, last eliminating Rush to win the match and punch his ticket to Cincinnati.

The former AEW Champion last eliminated Rush to win the match, impressively managing to avoid being eliminated after an apron powerbomb almost sent him crashing out the match. He increased his streak of winning multi-man matches, having also won the Casino Battle Royale and Casino Ladder Match in the past.

The Hangman will face Jon Moxley for the World title at the special Tuesday Dynamite in Cincinnati on October 18th, in what will be a first visit to the city in the history of AEW. It is also the hometown of AEW Champion Moxley, who will be given a hero’s welcome when he returns to his home city.

Page is likely to be booed heavily against Moxley, which is something he has not been used to in his AEW career. He has generally been seen as one of the most beloved babyfaces in the company and may have to alter his style when battling someone so popular as his opponent, especially as the outsider in enemy territory.

Jon Moxley is currently in his third reign as AEW Champion. His latest reign began at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, when he defeated Blackpool Combat Club teammate Bryan Danielson to win the vacant AEW Championship. He also held the championship for 2 weeks in August this year, winning it off and losing the championship to CM Punk in the span of a few weeks.

The Championship was made available by CM Punk after Double or Nothing 2022 and All Out 2022, both times due to injury. After the former, Punk remained the champion but AEW required and interim champion to be crowned. Moxley defeated Japanese legend Hiroshi Tanahashi at Forbidden Door to win the interim championship, which he held until uniting the titles by defeating CM Punk, upon his return to injury.

Following All Out 2022, another injury by CM Punk forced the title out of his hands. This time it was vacated, with Punk estimated to be injured for up to 8 months (if he isn’t fired in the meantime for a backstage fight with The Elite).
