Jeff Hardy has teased a match with CM Punk in AEW, harkening back to their feud over the World Heavyweight Championship back in 2009.
The pair battled in multiple matches, including a brilliant TLC match at Summerslam 2009, in one of the best feuds in WWE history. The feud took advantage of Jeff Hardy’s real life issues with alcohol and drugs, and made CM Punk’s Straight-Edge Saviour character even more effective.
Fans of the pair back then will be thrilled to hear that CM Punk vs Jeff Hardy could be coming to an AEW show in the coming months.

In an interview with Freddie Prinze Jr on his podcast “Wrestling with Freddie”, Jeff Hardy spoke all about his time in WWE and working with Freddie when the pair were employed by WWE.
In the interview, Hardy spoke about his feud vs Punk in WWE and how “there’s money” in the pair facing off inside an AEW ring.
In the interview, Jeff Hardy said;
“[Winning the World Championship] was like a little boy’s dream come true, man. God, and then to do it over and over again. One of my favourite things, as far as being the World Champion, was working with CM Punk.”
“It’s so crazy that we’re in the same company now and there’s a huge moment between me and Punk. It’s going to come, I’m sure.“
“I think there’s a huge moment, just in the hallway, like me and Matt beat The Young Bucks or whatever at whatever pay-per-view is coming up, or whatever happens, but then we run into him, and me and punk just have a face-off.”
The pair both thought it was a good idea, with Freddie Prinze Jr joking that he was going to pitch the idea to Tony Khan.
Jeff Hardy vs CM Punk will have to wait until after the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. He will face Adam Cole in the semi finals on AEW Dynamite, with the winner moving on to the final for a chance to lift the cup at AEW Double or Nothing 2022.
