Bill Goldberg is one of the most dominant wrestlers in the history of WCW and WWE. He is a former NFL player turned wrestler who took the wrestling world by storm. His winning streak in WCW shot him to superstardom, and he had a series of incredible matches against the likes of Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan and DDP. However, some of Goldberg’s best matches took place in WWE, years after his initial WCW run.
Since his debut in 2003 all the way up to his 2021 bouts with Bobby Lashley, Goldberg has pulled out a number of classic matches.
Despite his perceived lack of wrestling ability, he has had some of the most entertaining matches in the history of wrestling. His explosive style made incredible watching, and seeing him murder other wrestlers is a must watch. Despite not being recognised as one of the best WWE wrestlers of all time, Goldberg has wowed the fans more times than most in the ring.
Here is our list of the top 5 Goldberg matches in WWE.
Goldberg’s Best Matches in WWE
5. Goldberg vs Mark Henry (Monday Night Raw, October 6, 2003)
When Big E said he wanted “Big Meaty Men Slapping Meat”, this is exactly the sort of match he was envisioning.
Mark Henry had yet to find his groove with his Hall of Pain gimmick, but he showed signs of his intensity here. It’s rare to see Goldberg portrayed as the underdog, but here the World Heavyweight Champion was physically outmatched by the World’s Strongest man.
Both men showed off their strength on a number of occasions. After 5 minutes of action, a bodyslam by Goldberg garnered a huge reaction from the crowd. His shoulder tackles to knock down Mark Henry looked equally brutal.
Goldberg was about to go for the win with the Jackhammer, but was attacked by a chair wielding Rodney Mack. The match ended in a DQ.
It’s a shame Henry and Goldberg never faced off again. A pay per view bout between the pair could have been an incredible hoss match. Despite the bad finish, this is number five on the list of Goldberg’s best matches in WWE.
