Dominik Mysterio made waves with his rivalry with his father leading up to WrestleMania 39, but many fans have been wondering if he is really Eddie Guerrero‘s son.
The thought is not one that is without merit. The matter of Dominik’s parentage became a huge storyline in the WWE, when he was just a child.
He first appeared on WWE as a child in 2005, during the feud between Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero. The pair fought over the custody of the young Dominik, culminating in a heated ladder match.
The TV feud also saaw Dominik appearing in the ring with both Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero, with Guerrero famously telling him, “I’m your Papi!”.
Rey Mysterio defeated Eddie Guerrero at Summerslam 2005, winning custody of his son in a ladder match (this is, to my knowledge, not how these cases usually go in the United States).
This storyline had people questioning who really was Dominik Mysterio’s father, and if he really is Eddie Guerrero’s son.
Is Eddie Guerrero’s son Dominik?
No, Dominik is not Eddie Guerrero’s son. That rumour was only started because of the WWE Storyline, and they are not actually related at all.
The storyline in WWE claimed that Dominik was Eddie Guerrero’s son, but was born out of wedlock, and as such was adopted by Rey Mysterio and his wife.
This is untrue, and the whole idea was a scheme by Eddie to get into Rey’s head.
However, despite not being his son, Dominik was close with Eddie Guerrero. He called him Uncle Eddie, and grew up being very close with the late-former WWE Champion.
“At the end of the day, that’s Uncle Eddie, that’s dad. In WWE storyline, that’s my dad. So, I’m going to steal whatever I can and I’m gonna use it to my advantage.
“Being able to talk to Vickie, it’s been little things here and there. She’ll reach out and be like, ‘I love what you’re doing.’ I’ll reach out to here and go, ‘Hey, hopefully, this is okay.’ Little things like that. I just never want any problems with the Guerrero family.
It’s all love and respect at the end of the day. Even before [the Judgment Day storyline] started, I asked someone in WWE if I could reach out to Vickie and ask her, ‘Is this okay?’

Dominik Mysterio did reference these rumours prior to WrestleMania 39. His father, Rey, was one of Eddie’s best friends, and paid tribute to him at WrestleMania by entering the ring in his signature low rider.
In a promo on Smackdown, Dominik ran down his father, claiming that he wished Eddie Guerrero was his father.
Even though Eddie Guerrero isn’t the father of Dominik, he did have some children of his own.
Eddie Guerrero’s daughter, Shaul Guerrero, is a former wrestler who was signed to WWE, wrestling under their NXT brand.
She has since retired from wrestling, and married a former WWE star after leaving the company.
