Becky Lynch is set to take on Trish Stratus in a huge match at Becklash this year. The two iconic women’s wrestlers have never wrestled against one another, but are soon to team up in a huge WrestleMania match.
At WrestleMania 39, Trish Stratus, Becky Lynch & Lita defeated Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai & IYO SKY) in a six-woman tag team match.
While they seemed to be the best of friends at WrestleMania 39, things turned sour on Monday Night Raw.
After losing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, Trish Stratus turned heel and attacked Becky Lynch, setting up a huge match between the two legends.
It looks like it will be more than just a one-off for Trish Stratus, who looks set to stay with the WWE until at least August. This is when Summerslam 2023 will take place from Ford Field stadium in Detroit, Michigan, on August 5.
WRKD Wrestling on Twitter reports that the plan is for Stratus to go heel and feud with Lynch, leading to a match at the upcoming PLE. This account has broken past stories, including being the first to report that Lita was returning and confirmed reports regarding plans for Stratus.
The account wrote, “The long term plan, as of this moment, is that Trish Stratus will turn heel and work a program with Becky Lynch through SummerSlam.”
WrestleMania 39 will be Trish Stratus’ first match since 2019, when she lost to Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam. Four years after that loss, Becky Lynch vs Trish Stratus could be one of the biggest matches in Summerslam history.
Trish Stratus vs Becky Lynch
Trish Stratus teases a match against Becky Lynch last year, although it never came to fruition. Until Backlash 2023, that is.
Trish Stratus herself confirmed that she wanted a match against “The Man” Becky Lynch. The 7 time world champion has teased a feud with Lynch multiple times on social media, but nothing concrete has ever happened inside a WWE ring.
The pair had a physical altercation at a WWE event in Stratus’ home town of Toronto in Canada, during a WWE house show.
Becky Lynch felt the full force of a Trish Stratus-slap, after beating Rhea Ripley in a huge match at the WWE live event.
Not long before that incident, Stratus made it clear that she was ready to take on The Man inside a WWE ring.
In an interview with VIBE 105.5FM radio show, Trish Stratus revealed that she is ready for a match vs Becky Lynch and that she is “always here waiting in the wings and watching” for a chance to take on Becky Lynch in a blockbuster WWE match.
“I was hosting the events in Kitchener and Toronto. Becky Lynch was being a little bit of a brat. So it came down to a little slap from Trish Stratus to put her in her place.”
“Will it result in anything else? I don’t know, I still get asked about the Sasha Banks–Trish Stratus moment from the Rumble from 2018. That hasn’t come to fruition so far. At this point, I’ve just been focused on the show [Canada’s Got Talent] and I don’t know.”
I saw Asuka has returned to WWE television so I’m going to be patiently watching that feud unfold. Becky in the meantime has hit rock bottom, lost her stuff, she lost her Women’s championship.”
“I’m always here waiting in the wings and watching. Maybe or maybe not, that’s what I’ll say to you guys. People were pretty interested. It was kind of fun though.”
