It is still nearly two months out, but AEW are already setting up their matches for the Double or Nothing 2023 match card.
The event will be the first stop in a jam-packed summer of pay per views for AEW, which could mark a turning point in the company’s history.
On May 28th, Double or Nothing will be broadcast from Las Vegas, which will be followed by Forbidden Door, All Out and All In 2 (from Wembley Stadium, in the UK) in a huge summer of wrestling.
The show is already rumoured to have many top matches already.
MJF looks set to defend his AEW Championship against Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara and Jungle Boy, in a huge “four pillars” match.
Meanwhile, The Blackpool Combat Club will likely wrestle against The Elite, and Chris Jericho vs Adam Cole will also be on the card.
However, one match which fans will be excited to see is two former tag team champions colliding.
Keith Lee vs Swerve Strickland look set to do battle at AEW Double or Nothing 2023, with Dave Meltzer confirming that the former AEW Tag Team Champions facing off is the plan for the pay per view.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the plan right now is to “hold off the first Keith Lee vs. Swerve Strickland match until the PPV.”
The two have been feuding for some months, since the pair lost the AEW Tag Team Championships to The Acclaimed, after All Out 2022. Swerve turned on Lee after the fact, but the pair have yet to wrestle each for whatever reason.
Well, the big Keith Lee vs Swerve Strickland match will finally take place at AEW Double or Nothing 2023, in the first singles pay per view match of both man’s AEW career.
Both men are former WWE stars, joining after their release from the company in 2022. This could be the start of a big singles push for Swerve, who is the leader of his own stable in AEW.
Meanwhile, Keith Lee recently faced Chris Jericho in the main event of AEW Dynamite, showing that the company see big things with the former NXT Champion.
