MJF and his fiancé spent years together, but broke up just months after first getting engaged.
The AEW Champion is notoriously private about his personal affairs. He commits to his character strongly, not giving anything away to the fans that doesn’t work with his character.
MJF is seen as a loner in AEW, somebody who struggles to commit with staying with any of his friends (although Adam Cole looks to be the exception).
He seemed to have everything sorted with his fiancé, until she broke up with him, as referenced in an emotional AEW Dynaite promo.
MJF Got Engaged In 2022
On September 16th 2022, MJF’s engagement to his fiancé Naomi Rosemblum was announced in an Instagram post.
Rosemblum, who had been dating the AEW Champion for a number of years, revealed the good news by posting a photo with the caption “I said yes 🙂 …and yes, I forced him to smile for pics (after he told me I’m the luckiest girl in the world).
In a Tweet where he announced his engagement to his fiancé, MJF stayed in character when advising female fans that they still have a chance with him.
“Ladies panicking on my TL [timeline] don’t worry.” MJF Tweeted, “Just cuz there’s a goalie doesn’t mean you can’t score. Strive for greatness. #Saltoftheearth.”
MJF’s commitment to his character, even when announcing his engagement, shows just how good he is as a top heel in AEW.
The AEW Champion is one of the few wrestlers to commit to “Kayfabe”, never breaking character in front of fans, even when he is outside the ring.
Naomi Rosemblum has actually appeared alongside MJF in AEW, albeit very briefly.
The week after MJF beat CM Punk on AEW Dynamite, he kissed Naomi while making his entrance to the ring, while celebrating his victory over his childhood idol.
MJF’s Fiancé Broke Up With Him One Year Later
On February 24, 2023 it was announced that MJF had broken up with his fiancé.
The pair had only been engaged for less than a year, and with how private he is with his personal affairs, the fans had no idea there were any issues with MJF.
The first time MJF revealed he and his fiance had broken up was during a promo on AEW Dynamite.
During his feud with Bryan Danielson, MJF revealed that his fiancé left him because he is “unlovable”, and that the only thing keeping him around is his AEW Championship.
Speaking in a promo with Bryan Danielson on AEW Dynamite, MJF said:
“I met a girl – a girl who changed my outlook on every single person on this planet. My dream girl, a girl I fell in love with, she convinced me not everyone in this world is bad.”
“So then I became the man who got down on one knee, and I told that girl I wanted to start a family with her. I wanted to make a home with her, I wanted to have children with her, and you know what she did, Brian Danielson? Since she left me, she left me, Brian.”
“She left me because I’m unlovable, and now the only thing I have in this life that I can trust, the only thing I have in this world that makes me feel unconditional love, is this Triple B – the AEW World Heavyweight Championship.”
“It’s the only thing stopping me from grabbing a fistful of pills and calling it a day.”
A lot of this speech was likely embellished, although there is truth behind the fact that MJF’s fiancé left him prior to the show.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select revealed that there was “a lot of truth” in MJF’s promo, revealing that his split from his fiancé was something that really happened in real life.
“The MJF promo had a lot of truth to it. Normally wouldn’t cover that type of thing, but he and his fiancee did have a split as was referenced on tonight’s AEW Dynamite”
Little is known about MJF’s current relationship status, although based on the lack of reports of any new girlfriends, it is assumed that MJF is still single.
