MJF Set To Feud With Adam Cole After Double Or Nothing

Adam Cole vs MJF will be the next big rivalry over the AEW Championship, following AEW Double or Nothing 2023 next week.

The AEW Champion will defend his championship against Jungle Boy, Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara in the main event of the show, in a match involving all Four Pillars of AEW.

However, AEW are already looking forward to after the show, with MJF looking set to face off with Adam Cole after defending his belt against the three men.

This was meant to be set up this week on Dynamite, but Tony Khan decided to hold out on the tease until next week.

In a backstage interview with Renee Paquette, MJF knocked the microphone out of her hand, which made him look like even more of a horrible person.

However, this segment was meant to include Britt Baker, and set up an MJF vs Adam Cole match.

It appears that the segment on AEW Dynamite was originally meant to set up MJF vs Adam Cole, but ultimately was cut.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave says that the segment on Dynamite where MJF knocked the mic out of Renee’s hand was not what was originally planned.

The original plan involved everyone in the match and Britt Baker was involved. She was going to tell MJF that even if he wins, he won’t hold it for long, bay bay, the idea being for Adam Cole to be the next big chase after whoever wins the title.

Meltzer reported that he isn’t sure why they changed it or what they didn’t think was good about it, but they changed it to what was aired.

He thinks it may just be that they don’t want people to know Cole was getting the next shot because people would then think MJF was winning, even though as Dave notes the current odds are astronomically in the favour of MJF retaining his title, as everybody expects.
