Rey Mysterio Spotted On AEW Dynamite During Blood & Guts Match

Eagle-eyed fans will have spotted WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, during a brief but interesting appearance on AEW Dynamite.

The Lucha star is among one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, and helped pioneer Mexican wrestling and grew its popularity in the United States.

He was wanted by AEW in the early days of the promotion, but instead signed for WWE to mark an incredible return to the company in 2019.

However, fans may have spotted Rey Mysterio during the Blood & Guts 2023 match, which took place this week on AEW Dynamite.

The match was contested by two of the top teams in AEW. The Blackpool Combat Club (with PAC and Konosuke Takeshita) took on The Golden Elite in the bloodiest match in AEW history.

Thumbtacks, glass and even a bed of nails were used to inflict pain on their opponents, in a match that saw the AEW debut of Kota Ibushi, as part of the Golden Elite.

Rey Mysterio AEW Debut

It was during Ibushi’s maiden entrance that Rey Mysterio was spotted in AEW.

Rey Mysterio appeared on AEW Dynamite on-screen during Kota Ibushi’s entrance video.

As The Golden Star made his way into the Blood & Guts cage, highlights of his career flashed across the big screen.

This included him squaring off with Rey Mystero at All In, the event that was the precursor to AEW in 2018.

At All In (not the 2023 edition taking place at Wembley Stadium), Kota Ibushi teamed with The Young Bucks as “The Golden Elite”.

They took on a trio led by Rey Mysterio, that also included Bandido and Rey Fenix.

This match was actually cut short, due to the Kazuchika Okada vs Marty Scurll match going long. It lasted a little over 11-minutes, and saw six-man blast through their spots at a lightning pace.

Kota Ibushi and Rey Mysterio shared the ring at multiple points, and this is the footage of Rey Mysterio that was used on AEW Dynamite.

Sadly, due to his long-standing relationship with AEW (not to mention his son wrestling for the promotion), the odds are close to zero that Rey Mysterio will ever wrestle for AEW.
