Jungle Boy has been one of the top homegrown stars in AEW since the companies inception. Along with Darby Allin, MJF and Sammy Guevara, he is part of the famous “Four Pillars” of AEW, and has been followed by other young stars like Brock Anderson, Hook and Wheeler Yuta as the stars of AEW for the next years.
Jungle Boy currently holds the AEW Tag Team Championships with partner Luchasaurus, but he surely has singles championships in his sight for the future. Being only 24 years of age, he has another 25 years to cement his legacy in wrestling, but he will be one of the top stars in AEW in just a few years time if he continues to improve as he has done.
While the AEW Championship may be too far away for Jungle Boy at the moment (although he did tangle with AEW Champion Chris Jericho back in 2019), the TNT Championship is one he is all too familiar with and destined to be his first singles championship in AEW.
Jungle Boy has previously challenged for the TNT Championship, albeit unsuccessfully. He was the first man to challenge Cody Rhodes after Rhodes became the first ever TNT Champion. He lasted ten minutes with the three-time champion in a losing effort, but gave the fans and AEW management a glimpse of a man who will surely be a champion in the years to come.
His next opportunity at the TNT Championship came against a fellow “Four Pillar”, Darby Allin. This match showcased the future of AEW and showed how both men were positioned as main event talent, not just for the future, but for right now too. Of course, Allin was successful against Jungle Boy in the TNT Championship match.
Jungle Boy has also had run ins with the AEW Champions from time to time. He took on Chris Jericho in 2019 in Jericho’s “Ten Minute Challenge”. Jungle Boy lasted 10 minutes in the ring with the AEW Champion, who eventually defeated Jungle Boy in a match that showcased Jungle Boy’s heart and soul in the ring.
He also challenged Kenny Omega for the AEW Championship after AEW Double or Nothing 2021. Jungle Boy last eliminated Christian Cage to win the Casino Battle Royal at DoN 2021 and earned a shot at Omega’ world championship in a future episode of AEW Dynamite. Unfortunately, he fell short again and is still without AEW singles gold.
