When Adam Cole was joined in AEW by Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly, fans knew it was only a matter of time before an Undisputed Era reunion. However, obviously WWE own the rights to the name “Undisputed Era”, and whilst they seem to be a part of The Elite for now, there was always going to be a new name for the group in AEW.
According to recent reports, AEW have submitted a trademark application for a new name. This name is rumoured to be the new name for the group, although nothing has confirmed as of yet. There is no telling whether or not they will stick with The Elite as their group name. However, it does seem likely for an Elite “civil war” in the future, pitting the Undisputed Era against The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.
The recent trademark application by AEW is for the name “PARAGON”. The word paragon is defined as “a person or thing regarded as a perfect example of a particular quality.”, which would be an accurate description of how the group see themselves. In NXT, they held all the championships in the promotion and the name PARAGON would have described them perfectly.
The trademark application for the name PARAGON is as follows:
“PARAGON™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a group or individual wrestlers; Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Providing a website featuring entertainment information in the field(s) of wrestling; Providing an Internet website portal featuring entertainment news and information specifically in the field of wrestling; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a group or individual wrestlers.“
In addition, AEW have applied for the trademark for a logo for the group. It features the word Paragon, with an unknown symbol replacing the “O” in Paragon. In addition, below the word Paragon is a modified infinity symbol. Maybe this could be indicating that the group is infinitely talented and that nobody could defeat them. With their big win over Best Friend’s last week on AEW, it certainly is accurate for the time being.
The logo is as follows.
