Is Seth Rollins better than Roman Reigns? The former Shield members have been top stars in WWE for years, but they have strong opinions on who is the best wrestler of the two.
Roman Reigns is the top star in WWE, overtaking John Cena, Brock Lesnar et al as the top dog in the company. He is a double champion, holding the WWE Championship as well as the Universal Championship after defeating Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania in 2022.
However, not everyone thinks he is the best wrestler in WWE. While many have often criticised Roman Reigns for his in-ring ability and booking, one wrestler who thinks he is better than Roman Reigns is Seth Rollins. The man whose middle name is now apparently “Freaking” thinks very highly of himself and claimed that he is on a better run than Reigns in 2022 in WWE.
Seth Rollins holds 10 wins over Roman Reigns in WWE since their debut in 2012, with Rollins famously winning the WWE Championship from Reigns and Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 31 by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract in the most spectacular way possible. He also defeated The Big Dog at Money in the Bank 2016 for the coveted championship, before being cashed in on by another former Shield member Dean Ambrose.
Ambrose, Reigns and Rollins were part of the legendary stable known as The Shield. The trio dominated WWE from 2012 to 2014, before splitting up and creating three top stars in WWE that have lasted the test of time. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins currently still work for WWE, whilst Ambrose now goes by Jon Moxley and is a two-time AEW Champion.
While Moxley is out of the discussion about runs in WWE, many fans have wondered if Seth Rollins is better than Roman Reigns (or vice versa) in WWE?
Is Roman Reigns better than Seth Rollins?
In a New York Post article posted to Twitter, columnist Joseph Staszewski posed the question to his thousands of followers- is Seth Rollins better than Roman Reigns?
In an article entitled “Seth Rollins is on an all-time WWE run — maybe even better than Roman Reigns.”, he analysed whether or not Seth Rollins run in WWE had surpassed Roman Reigns (in performance and entertainment), despite Roman Reigns holding two world championships in WWE compared to Rollins zero.
However, “The Visionary” had something to say about the article. Not being happy with the simple notion of “maybe” being as good as Roman Reigns, Rollins made it clear that he was on a better run than The Tribal Chief and that Seth Rollins is better than Roman Reigns.
In a quote Tweet in response to the original article, Seth Rollins said “Cut the “maybe” and you’d have a correct headline.”. This revealed that he thought he was having a better run in WWE than Roman Reigns and was the premier member of the Shield.
Seth Rollins has been supremely entertaining for years, especially in feuds with Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns in WWE. He defeated Roman Reigns at the 2022 Royal Rumble, getting the psychological advantage over his former partner by dressing in their former Shield attire.
However, his victory was only by disqualification, which meant that despite winning Seth Rollins did not win the Universal Championship. This did leave the rematch open for someplace down the line for Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins to finally decide who is better out of the two.
He also faced (albeit in defeat each time) Cody Rhodes three times since the American Nightmare’s return to WWE. The highlight was a 5-star match at Hell in a Cell, where the pair competed inside the dangerous Hell in a Cell match despite Rhodes suffering a porn pectoral muscle which has kept him out for an extended period of time.
Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins
Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins for both the WWE Championship and Universal Championship is one match WWE fans are hoping will happen some time in the near future.
While Reigns is defending both his titles at Summerslam this year, neither of them will be against Seth Rollins. He faces Brock Lesnar (for the four millionth time) in the main event of the show that fans are at about a 4/10 for excitement for.
Many fans would much rather see a rematch between Rollins and Reigns, to answer the question once at for all whether or not Seth Rollins is better than Roman Reigns, and is Roman Reigns is bigger star than Rollins in WWE.
