WWE look set to book an unexpected championship match the next time they go to Saudi Arabia. Despite only having two wrestling matches under his belt, it looks like Logan Paul will be wrestling Roman Reigns at the event, challenging him for his Unified WWE Universal Championship.
Roman Reigns vs Logan Paul was first reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, who claimed that the pair would face off at WWE Crown Jewel 2022 on November 5th in Saudi Arabia. This would be the biggest match of Paul’s career, having previously wrestled a tag team match alongside The Miz at Wrestlemania, and then faced him one on one at the following Summerslam.
Roman Reigns made an appearance on Paul’s Impaulsive podcast earlier this week, teasing a match between the two. With Logan Paul appearing on tonight’s episode of Smackdown, that will likely set up for the explosive bout between the WWE World Champion and the hit Youtube star.
The Observer also reported that a press conference is scheduled for Saturday in Las Vegas to promote the match, a move that is very unusual for most WWE matches. This shows how much of a big deal Triple H sees this bout and how it could help improve WWE’s business going forward.
Roman Reigns vs Logan Paul continues the tradition of celebrity wrestlers appearing in WWE in recent years, especially in their Saudi Arabia shows. Tyson Fury previously wrestled Braun Strowman in Saudi, whilst Cain Valasquez unsuccessfully challenged Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship in 2019.
Logan Paul recently signed a new deal with WWE to wrestle more matches in the next few years after impressing in his first two bouts for the company.
