Will Ospreay Calls Kenny Omega a “Mad Scientist” Over Wrestle Kingdom Match

Will Ospreay has heaped praise on Kenny Omega over their match at Wrestle Kingdom 17, calling him a “mad scientist”.

The pair wrestled in one of the greatest matches of all time in the semi-main event, battling for Ospreay’s IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship.

The bout has been lauded by fans and critics alike, being awarded over 6 stars by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Ospreay spoke about the match with Omega, claiming that watching him in the ring was like watching “a mad scientest”.

“It’s like a mad scientist when you’re watching their work. Like doing that one at Kingdom, it was incredible to watch. It’s incredible to watch and then to collaborate on stuff together. It was like I didn’t think it was going to be what it turned out to be. So then finally, watching the art play out and everything that we wanted to hear hit.

And then, the goal, the eye swelling up. The like, we both have a mutual thing that we’re both going to come out of this. Yeah, but if we’re going to come out up, it needs to be special. And like, yeah, I can’t. I remember even saying, ‘Man, I feel like I could have done better.’ And then I remember TJ slapping me on my head. Oh no, I was just like, shut up.”

Will Ospreay is rumoured to be wrestling against Kenny Omega at AEW All In later this year, in front of a potential 90,000 strong crowd inside the legendary Wembley Stadium, in London.

Opsreay is wrestling Shingo Tagaki the night before for Rev Pro Wrestling, adding greatly to the chance that he will appear at the show for AEW.
