Bad news for Eddie Kingston fans, as the AEW Star has revealed he will spend some time out whilst he gets surgery.
Kingston suffered an unknown injury in his loss to Claudio Castagnoli at ROH Supercard of Honor, failing to win the ROH Championship.
He had not been seen since then, with many fans wondering what injury he suffered at the hands of the Swiss Superman.
Eddie Kingston revealed his injury woes at the latest ROH tapings, talking the crowd about how long he’d be away from wrestling.
Kingston had the Orlando crowd, during Sunday’s Ring of Honor TV taping, that he was going to have hernia surgery and that he should be out for around six weeks.
He returned at the taping to assist AR Fox & FTR in the ring, saving them from an attack from Anthony Henry, Shane Taylor and JD Drake.
AR Fox defeated Anthony Henry. After the match, Shane Taylor came out and joined up with Henry and JD Drake to triple team Fox. AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR then made the save to a big pop, forcing Taylor, Drake and Henry to retreat.
Eddie Kingston’s music then hit to another big pop, and he chased them back into the ring for a beat down.
Kingston and FTR cut babyface promos to the crowd. Kingston announced that he is undergoing minor hernia surgery this Tuesday and hopes to be back in 6 weeks
The New York-native has long been a fan favourite in AEW, and is among the top merchandise sellers in the company.
This is despite him “quitting” AEW in recent months, moving exclusively to the ROH brand to feud with Claudio Castagnoli.
It was previously revealed by Eddie Kingston that he had been suffering with the hernia injury since September 2022, just after All Out 2022.
Kingston had opened up about his hernia injury last month while on an episode of “ROH on HonorClub.”, although he is usually very secretive over his health.
It is expected that he will be a part of the AEW Brand Split, when AEW Collision debuts on TV this June, along with the return of Kingston’s former rival CM Punk.
Hopefully Eddie Kingston’s injury heals up soon, so we can see him share the ring with The Best in the World once again.
