The WWE Hall of Fame in one of the most prestigious hall of fames in wrestling. If a wrestler has been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, it means they are one of the best of the best and have had a huge contribution to wrestling. From Andre the Giant in 1993 to The Undertaker in 2022, every year top WWE superstars are inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Many stars of the Attitude Era have been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Stone Cold Steve Austin was awarded the honour in 2008. Shawn Michaels was inducted in 2011. Edge went in 2012 after being forced to retire, although he came out of retirement in 2019 after nearly ten years out of the ring.

He is rumoured to be coming back to the WWE for one last run this year, ready to take on his cousin Roman Reigns. It is expected he will return at the 2023 Royal Rumble and then face the Unified WWE Universal Champion in a blockbuster Wrestlemania main event, in his first real match for 10 years.

His last match came against Erick Rowan at Wrestlemania 32. It broke the record for the shortest Wrestlemania match of all time, as he pinned The Vintner in an astonishing six seconds. However, his last proper match was against John Cena at Wrestlemania 29, where he lost the WWE Championship to the Homelander star in the main event of the record-breaking show.

But one name that fans keep asking “are they in the Hall of Fame?” is former WWE Champion and Hollywood movie star The Rock. Is The Rock in the WWE Hall of Fame?

The Rock in the WWE Hall of Fame

The Rock is not in the WWE Hall of Fame because he wants to retire before his is inducted. With WWE still holding out hope that the 50 year old Black Adam star will come back for one more match, he has resisted calls to enter the hall of fame. Many peers from his time in wrestling, like Steve Austin and The Undertaker, have all accepted the induction but The Rock remains steadfast.

He was present at the event in 2008, when he inducted his father, Rocky Johnson, and his grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia, into the WWE Hall of Fame. He was rumoured to be inducted in 2015, but indicated that he wanted to continue to wrestle, and didn’t think he’d be able to if he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said’

“That would be great, sure, but I would have to speak to Vince [McMahon] first. I’m not quite too sure if… am I allowed to be inducted in and still come back to wrestle? I don’t know. We’ll see!”

The Rock has had one of the greatest WWE careers ever, despite his run being so short. He was only active as a full time roster member for around 6 years, between 1996 and 2002. He wrestled part for two years among his film career, before taking a hiatus for several years. He returned in 2012 to wrestle John Cena, and the next year he faced CM Punk and John Cena, winning the WWE Championship.

His last match came at Wrestlemania 32, where he defeated Erick Rowan in just 5 seconds. It was the shortest ever Wrestlemania match and was the final time The Rock stepped into the ring so far. WWE have long teased a match vs Roman Reigns for the Brahma Bull, and The Rock vs Roman Reigns looks set to take place in the main event of Wrestlemania 39.
